SEED Global Education and Maryland’s Robert H. Smith School of Business Announce SEED Business Challenge 2026 Winners

by Ankur Sharma January 9, 2026 0 Comment

India, January 9, 2026—SEED Global Education, a global higher-education engagement platform connecting students with leading international universities through competitions, fairs, and experiential learning initiatives, has successfully concluded the SEED Business Challenge 2026. Delivered in collaboration with Robert H. Smith School of Business at the University of Maryland, this national, multi-stage competition reflects SEED’s commitment to developing globally relevant, industry-aligned talent.

Designed as a rigorous yet collaborative experience, the SEED Business Challenge fostered strong peer learning, cross-disciplinary exchange, and intellectual camaraderie. Participants worked in teams, shared perspectives across institutions, and engaged in iterative problem-solving—mirroring the academic and professional environments of leading global business schools.

Challenge Overview

Winning teams tackled a high-stakes business simulation focused on a hypothetical mid-stage company stuck at a critical inflection point, rethinking how scale is built in a post-ZIRP world. Over six weeks, participants dedicated 8–10 hours per week analyzing datasets, building predictive models, and delivering integrated roadmaps across marketing, operations, finance, and customer experience.

Their strategies centered on:

  • Designing behavior-led retention systems that turn actions into predictable growth
  • Using automation to improve efficiency and margins
  • Creating growth engines that accelerate trust, conversion, and expansion

Industry-Led Mentoring and Applied Learning

A defining feature of the SEED Business Challenge 2026 was its structured mentoring phase.

Shortlisted teams participated in four 90-minute mentoring sessions led by industry experts from consulting, finance, and operations. Mentors helped teams refine assumptions, stress-test strategic choices, and improve the clarity and feasibility of their recommendations.

One team, for example, optimized a financial model under mentor guidance, reducing projected costs by 15% while maintaining ambitious growth targets. Beyond strategy, this phase strengthened participants’ executive communication skills, demonstrated how strategic decisions are evaluated in practice, and reinforced the application of academic frameworks to real-world business challenges.

Awards and Recognition

Following multiple evaluation rounds, 28 teams were shortlisted from over 400 applicants across India. Six teams emerged as winners, representing:

  • IIM Mumbai
  • SIES Graduate School of Technology
  • CMR Institute of Technology
  • NIT Sikkim
  • VNIT Nagpur
  • Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham

The winning teams will share a ₹150,000 prize pool and receive certificates, partial scholarships for select programs at the Robert H. Smith School of Business, and application fee waivers. This recognition not only rewards their outstanding performance but also strengthens their candidacy for internships, placements, and entrepreneurial endeavours.

Why It Matters

“Global universities and employers value applied thinking over theoretical performance,” said Sharang Dhaimade, Co-founder, SEED Global Education. “This challenge gives participants a credible platform to demonstrate how they think, analyze, and solve problems that don’t have obvious answers.”
