JMI VC attends launch of Study In India Portal, terms it a welcome step by Government to attract foreign students
The Hon’ble Union Minister of External Affairs, Dr. S. Jaishankar and Hon’ble Union Minister of Education and Skill Development & Entrepreneurship, Shri Dharmendra Pradhan today inaugurated Study In India (SII) portal which was attended Union MoS for Education, Smt. Annpurna Devi, Union MoS for Education, Dr. Subhas Sarkar, Union MoS for Education and External Affairs, Dr. Rajkumar Ranjan Singh, senior officials and academicians from higher educational institutions among others. JMI Vice Chancellor, Prof. Najma Akhtar (Padma Shri) also attended the function which was held at the Auditorium of Parliament House Annexe Extension, New Delhi.
JMI Vice Chancellor, Prof. Najma Akhtar said it’s a very good initiative of the Government of India to start Study In India portal that provides all the information to prospective foreign students related to education institutions in India, how to plan their studies, how to stay in India, what kind of events are planned and application process among others.
JMI has received a number of inquiries from foreign students on Study In India portal and the university has so far offered admission to 67 foreign students. Apart from this, 96 foreign students whose applications were received through ICCR and 42 foreign students under supernumerary category have been offered admission so far by the varsity. The last date of admission for foreign students in JMI is August 30, 2023.
Currently foreign students from 30 different countries across the globe are studying in various courses at JMI. The university is taking several steps to attract more foreign students to its campus as the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Najma Akhtar has shown keen interests in this regard. The university has uploaded brochure containing recent achievements, history, facilities for foreign students and other required details on its portal www.jmi.ac.in. The university has also started constructing a state-of-the-art hostel building for foreign students which will have all the required facilities of global standards.
