Aspiring actors will soon get an opportunity to understand the real-world audition process of the film and web industry, the perspective of casting directors, and the common mistakes made by newcomers at a residential acting programme to be held near Jaipur. The six-day programme, scheduled from January 12 to 17 amid the Aravalli hills, will feature guidance sessions by casting director Navneet Ranga, founder of Magpie Casting.

Aakash Gaur, organiser of the “Actor Within” workshop, said the residential programme will be held in the Rundal area near Jaipur, offering participants a chance to train while staying close to nature. He said the focus of the workshop would not be limited to acting techniques alone, but would also include building industry awareness, mental preparedness and a professional approach required to sustain a career in acting.

During the programme, Navneet Ranga will conduct sessions on the audition process, the journey from casting calls to selection, handling rejection, and identifying the right projects. Ranga has been associated with acclaimed projects such as Lust Stories 2 and Jaane Jaan and is known for providing opportunities to new talent in the industry.

Sessions on acting and performance will be conducted by actor Prateek Pachauri, known for his work in theatre, web series such as Panchayat and Paatal Lok, and films including Sherni and Bawaal. Morning sessions will focus on yoga and physical balance, led by Mumbai-based yoga instructor Sharmila Asha Suresh, who has extensive experience in body conditioning.

Organisers said the programme would be especially beneficial for young aspirants who wish to pursue acting as a serious profession and gain a realistic understanding of the challenges of the industry.
