Fortis Jaipur Brings India’s Leading Hand Surgeons Together for First-Ever IOA Basic Hand Surgery Course

Jaipur, August 18, 2025: In a first for the city, Fortis Hospital Jaipur successfully hosted the IOA Basic Hand Surgery Course 2025 bringing together some of India’s most respected hand and orthopaedic surgeons under one roof. Organised in collaboration with the Jaipur Hand Surgery Association (JHSA), Rajasthan Orthopaedic Surgeons Association (ROSA), and Jaipur Orthopaedic Society (JOS), the event aimed to equip surgeons with cutting-edge skills to diagnose and treat hand, wrist, and elbow injuries that, if neglected, can lead to lifelong disability.

The interactive workshop featured renowned names including Dr Amit Kumar Vyas (Consultant – Hand Surgery, Fortis Jaipur), Dr Purnima Patni (President, JHSA), Dr Narendra Saini (Secretary, JHSA), Dr Parag B. Lad (IOA Faculty, Mumbai), Dr Abhijeet Wahegaonkar (Chairman, IOA Hand Committee), Dr Ajeet Tiwari (Member, IOA Hand Committee), and JHSA Members- Dr Vinit Arora, Dr Aviral Gupta, Dr Ashok Meena, and Dr Divyansh Sharma.

The day was packed with hands-on case discussions, live problem-solving panels, and scenario-based learning covering topics such as managing wrist fractures, preventing missed perilunate dislocations, early detection of scaphoid fractures, nerve repair, tendon injuries, and rehabilitation strategies.

Speaking at the session, Dr Amit Kumar Vyas (Consultant – Hand Surgery, Fortis Jaipur) said, “Hand injuries are easy to dismiss & often not taken that seriously, but even the smallest of fractures or tendon injuries can result in significant disability if not diagnosed and treated correctly.
